Explain how you plan to fill in any gaps in management and/or experience. For instance, if you lack financial know-how, will you hire a CFO or retain an accountant? If you don’t have sales skills, will you hire an in-house sales manager or use outside sales reps?

This section should give readers an understanding of the people behind your business, their roles and responsibilities, and their prior experience. If you’re using your business plan to get financing, know that investors and lenders carefully assess whether you have a qualified management team.

Biographies.
Summarize (bullet points) your experience  and those of your key employees in a few paragraphs per person. Focus on the prior experience and skills that have prepared your team to succeed in this business. If anyone has previous experience starting and growing a business, explain this in detail. Your employees do not need to be ‘real people’. Prepare a list of people that would best do the job.

Organization Chart.
Develop and include an organization chart. This should include both roles that you’ve already filled and roles you plan to fill in the future.

Examine how clinical reasoning is used in your specialty area, and how advanced knowledge of physical assessment, pathophysiology and pharmacology can help improve your clinical reasoning skills.

Mountain climbers like Sir Edmund Hillary—the first person to scale Mt. Everest—are driven by a passion not everyone can understand. They persevere through brutal environments, dangerous conditions, and the risk of failure, merely for a chance to meet their objective: to reach the top.

That passion can fuel their desire and their objectives, but it should not drive their thinking and decision making. Failure to apply logical reasoning with each step can be a matter of life and death.

This week, you examine how clinical reasoning is used in your specialty area, and how advanced knowledge of physical assessment, pathophysiology and pharmacology can help improve your clinical reasoning skills. With an appreciation for the need to reason and think critically, you will further examine a case study of your choosing from your practicum experience and begin to determine the patient history and presentation as part of Part 1 of your Threaded Case Study. You also will submit your finalized Practicum Experience Plan.

Learning Objectives

Students will:

  • Analyze advanced knowledge of clinical reasoning to area of specialty
  • Develop measurable individualized practicum learning objectives
  • Evaluate a clinical specialty as a means to advance knowledge and development
  • Develop a Practicum Experience Plan
  • Develop a timeline for the practicum experience
  • Evaluate practicum experiences related to advanced physical assessment, pathophysiology, and pharmacology
  • Analyze patient history and presentation related to a chosen case study*
  • Analyze pathophysiology of primary diagnosis*
  • Recommend a pharmacological approach to the primary diagnosis*
  • Recommend a nursing treatment plan for a chosen case study*
  • Recommend short- and long-term nursing treatment goals for a chosen case study*

Compare and contrast a carcinogen that is a mutagen to a carcinogen that is not a mutagen. Compare the means of exposure of each chemical and the type of cancer each causes.

This unit’s assigned reading focuses on chemical-induced mutagens. As you are aware from the reading, not all carcinogens are mutagens. For this assignment, compare and contrast a carcinogen that is a mutagen to a carcinogen that is not a mutagen. Find at least four peer-reviewed journal articles published within the last 7 years that discuss the carcinogens and the cancer that each causes.

Compare the means of exposure of each chemical and the type of cancer each causes. Be sure to integrate the perspective and information gathered from each article into a discussion in your own words.
Your literature review must include the following components:

an introduction of your topic of choice (include some background information on the origins of exposure and cancer),the methods used to search for the articles, the results of the articles,a discussion and conclusion with your own opinion.

Identify and analyze either a civil liberties, civil rights, or foreign or domestic (social/economic) policy issue or controversy. Demonstrate why this why this is a national issue and not a state issue.

This assignment requires that you write a letter to any one of the two United States (U.S.) Congressional senators representing Texas or any U.S Congressional representative representing Texas (first find out who they are) that conveys and analyzes your concerns about a national issue.

The Letter of Concern will demonstrate your ability to effectively communicate by developing and writing an executive summary that identifies, integrates, critically analyzes and makes recommendations for a solution to an issue that is based on considering the origins, facts, processes, inputs (public opinion, interest groups, political parties and the intercultural communities they serve) and the ethical consequences for the issue and recommendations.

Address the following criteria for the letter you will write. Research the issue and find a constitutional solution to the problem and develop an ethical strategy(ies) that can be used to help implement your policy solution.

Based on what you have learned in class and your ‘expertise’ as management students recommend 4 practices that the business organization can improve in order to continuously improve the quality of its operations.

The goal of the project is to provide students with an opportunity to become familiar with and demonstrate the ability to analyze and critically evaluate a business organization with regard to the extent to which TQM is evident in its philosophy, tools and techniques, and organizational practices. The business organization assigned to each team has won a Baldrige Award between 2018 and 2019.

    1. Based on what has been presented in class (i.e. consider topics presented in the text) present a discussion of 4 practices that the business organization engages in that you (i.e. the team) considers to be most noteworthy in terms of quality management.  The discussion should be 2-3 paragraphs for each practice and include 1-2 sentences indicating why the practice is noteworthy.
    2. Based on what you have learned in class ( again consider the topics presented in the text) and your ‘expertise’ as management students recommend 4 practices that the business organization can improve in order to continuously improve the quality of its operations.  The discussion should be 2-3 paragraphs for each practice and include 1-2 sentences justifying why the recommendation is important for the business organization to implement.

What set of steps should be used to create the code of conduct? What should be included in the code of conduct? What impact does a code of conduct have on an organization’s culture?

Theresa and Mike fully support creating a code of conduct for the merged organization. They have asked you to recommend how they should approach the development of the code of conduct, especially given the need to merge the companies into one team with a shared mission, vision, and values. They are interested in knowing how the code of conduct will help establish the new organizational culture.

Review the scenario attached, and prepare a 500–700-word executive report that includes the following:

1. What set of steps should be used to create the code of conduct?

2. What should be included in the code of conduct?

3. What impact does a code of conduct have on an organization’s culture?

Form a hypothesis. Think about a patient care incident that has occurred in the adult medical-surgical clinical setting: a situation, event, encounter or experience, which has elicited a feeling, emotion, relief, surprise, understanding or confirmation and describe it within the essential context of the incident.

New nurses are faced with making many decisions in meeting the needs of their patients. Nursing clinical judgment relates to the life experiences of the practicing nurse and is the end decision made when providing safe patient care (Tanner, 2006).  Recognizing patient cues, analyzing those cues, then developing a hypothesis, generating ideas, taking action and finally evaluating the outcome leads to clinical decision making in patient care (Dickison, Haerling, & Lasater, 2019). Evidence-based Practice (EBP) is consideration of clinical problems or questions while using clinical judgment and patient preferences. Integration of EBP happens when students search for evidence to support interventions as part of the rationales for patient care.

Assignment:

The student will write a critically appraised summary of the selected evidence-based nursing article using American Psychological Association (APA) format, professional writing skills and language, while relating the information to the clinical incident in a succinct and clear manner.

The critical reasoning and reflective thinking for the assignment involves three questions:

Form a hypothesis. Think about a patient care incident that has occurred in the adult medical-surgical clinical setting: a situation, event, encounter or experience, which has elicited a feeling, emotion, relief, surprise, understanding or confirmation and describe it within the essential context of the incident. This is something that you experience as a student while in the 195 or 205 Adult Med/Surg clinical patient care setting. Use your clinical instructor as a resource.

Refine the hypothesis. Why was this incident significant? Describe why this incident was significant enough to affect you or influenced your nursing care or practice.

Describe specific lessons learned from this incident and what would the student do differently if the incident repeated itself. This section requires the student to search for a nursing article (peer reviewed) that addresses the lesson learned or supports an alternative intervention or approach to the incident.

Do you prefer public speaking in more traditional, in-person environments, or do you enjoy the technology-driven presentations of the 21st century? Why do you think it will be important for you to be able to do both successfully?

Create a narrated slideshow (your voice recorded over slides) at the end of your SPCH 219 experience. This narrated slideshow will focus on assessing your public speaking and presentation skills at the end of the course as well as reflecting upon all that you have learned.
Content
Create an introduction, body, and conclusion based upon what you’ve learned about strong, effective presentation content. Your narrated slideshow should address the following:
1. Now that you’ve developed many kinds of speeches in the SPCH 219 course, what is your comfort level with presenting in the 21st century? Describe your level of public speaking anxiety.

2. Do you prefer public speaking in more traditional, in-person environments, or do you enjoy the technology-driven presentations of the 21st century? Why do you think it will be important for you to be able to do both successfully?

3. Describe the way you now approach preparing for a presentation. What have you learned about preparing for a speech based on the presentation ecosystem? 4. Discuss your thoughts on the three elements of the presentation ecosystem. Which piece or pieces are you most comfortable with? Which piece or pieces will need additional practice in the future? 5. What are the top 3 most important lessons you learned from your experience in SPCH 219?
