Leila is a police officer. She is out of uniform and knocked on Dan’s front door of his house and asked is should could enter to enforce a warrant she had. The warrant was a search warrant issued by a magistrate at the Lawrence District Court. His name is Mark McCale, a retired police officer for the state police department in Lawrence. The warrant indicated that “the first floor of Dan’s house will be searched for a gun used in connection with a robbery and some jewelry, which was stolen.” While looking in Dan’s house, Officer Leila smelled what she thought to be gun powder emanating from the second floor. Officer Leila immediately walked upstairs and found a gun at the tops of the stairs. She went to confiscate the gun and while doing so noticed a note attached to the gun with an address on it. Later that afternoon police officers went to the address of the house listed on the note of the gun. A bunch of jewelry was found at this address and collected by the police officers. The address was a known address for stolen jewelry to be pawned. While at Dan’s house, Dan told Officer Leila that, “I do not know what you are here for, because I did not rob the Terri Grubb’s jewelry store.” Officer Leila asked Dan to go to the police station and Dan agreed. As they walked into the police station, Magistrate McCale yelled, “is that the person who robbed Terri Grubb’s jewelry store?!” Dan replied, “I told Officer Leila already, I did not rob the Terri Grubb’s jewelry store.”

A recent attempt to pass a more strict immigration bill in the U.S. Senate failed but generated enormous popular support and enormous opposition rallies. Is illegal immigration a threat to the country? What do you think the government should do about it? Don’t just give opinions. Provide specific evidence.

Show how the rhetoric of the Working Men’s Party, and people like Carney, draw really directly and specifically on those reports of, and language about, Chinese sexual deviancy, women being held in prostitution, etc.

The timeline and location of the research paper focuses on the second half of the 19th century. So roughly 1850’s to 1899 in California. The paragraph below is basically what the paper is going to be about with my thesis statement at the end. It should also be copy-pasted and put at the beginning of the paper as an opening paragraph. But a more thorough break down of the issues and points the research paper should look into and talk about is this rhetoric about sexual deviancy, the impropriety of gender relations among Chinese, the unmanliness or sexual deviancy of Chinese men, the kind of heathenism and moodness of Chinese women, and the ways in which that kind of sexual stereotyping is deployed in the Californian newspaper accounts about the Chinese. And then how it is used in political efforts to exclude, expel the Chinese or to discriminate against the Chinese in various legislative ways and legal ways.
Then to connect the two pieces together that you have. On one hand, here are the reports about practices of the Chinese, and particularly their sexual deviancies, and especially, then, their treatment of women, and the prostitution of women, and so forth. And then later, connect it to the political arguments that are made in the 1870s about exclusion. And by the Working Man’s Party, by Dennis Carney, in particular through his speech. Please show how the rhetoric of the Working Men’s Party, and people like Carney, draw really directly and specifically on those reports of, and language about, Chinese sexual deviancy, women being held in prostitution, etc. Do they draw specifically on this aspect of Chinese behavior to justify their weak rationale for why Chinese need to be expelled, excluded, prevented for further immigration, etc.

If Coke’s price increases, what will happen to the demand or quantity demanded for Pepsi, all other things being equal? Explain whether it is a movement along the demand curve or a shift of the demand curve.

A change in quantity demanded (or a movement along the demand curve) is caused by a change in its own price while a change in demand (or a shift of the demand curve) is caused by a change in nonprice determinants that include changes in consumers’ income, taste or preference, price of other goods, expected future price, etcetera. Respond to the following:

If Coke’s price increases, what will happen to the demand or quantity demanded for Pepsi, all other things being equal?
Explain whether it is a movement along the demand curve or a shift of the demand curve.
If Coca-Cola develops a new technology that makes Coke tastier, what will happen to the supply curve and demand curve for Coke?
Is the demand (curve or schedule) for Coke or Pepsi seasonally different?
What is the relationship between Coke and Pepsi? Do they have the same demand curve or are they different? Explain your reasoning.

Compare the current provisions in the ACA with those in the failed first version of the AHCA. Share your opinions about why the AHCA failed in the first attempt at passage.

The discussion focuses on the federal government’s role in protecting the public’s health using the ACA and current efforts to “repeal and replace” the ACA. Please note that the government’s role in protecting the public’s health did not begin with the ACA. In the late 1800s, Lilian Wald brought health care to the community. And in 1965, Congress passed bills authorizing Medicare and Medicaid. Since 1965, Congress has expanded government-sponsored health care to pregnant women and children. Please answer those following question: Compare the current provisions in the ACA with those in the failed first version of the AHCA. Share your opinions about why the AHCA failed in the first attempt at passage.
