Evidence-Based Practice Project Proposal: Organizational Culture and Readiness 590

Assessment Description
In order to successfully implement a change within an organization, the change agent must assess the organization’s culture and readiness for change. In 750-1,000 words, analyze the culture and level of readiness of the organization for which your evidence-based practice project is proposed. You will use the assessment of the organization’s culture and readiness in the Topic 8 assignment, during which you will synthesize the various aspects of your project into a final paper detailing your evidence-based practice project proposal.

Include the following:

Describe the organization’s culture and explain to what degree the culture supports change. Consider organizational and leadership structure, mission and values, interprofessional collaboration/team engagement, communication, perception of the organization by employees, etc.

Select an organizational readiness tool and assess the level or readiness for change within your organization. Identify the readiness tool and summarize the survey results. Discuss the degree to which the culture will support and sustain an evidence-based practice change. Consider strengths and weaknesses, potential barriers, stakeholder support, timing of the proposal, and resources. Provide rationale.

Discuss what health care process and systems you would recommend for improving quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness for the organization.

Propose strategies to better facilitate the readiness of the organization.

Identify the stakeholders and team members for the project. Include what their duties will be in the evidence-based practice project proposal.

Explain what information and communication technologies are needed for the implementation and how they will be integrated in the setting by the internal stakeholders. Explain how these will help improve nursing practice and care delivery for individuals and populations for your intervention.

Refer to the “Evidence-Based Practice Project Proposal – Assignment Overview” document for an overview of the evidence-based practice project proposal assignments.

Identify how the protests examined in the studies by Brym et al. and Vraga et al. made use of new media technologies in their activist efforts.

Reed, T. V. (2014). Digitized lives: Culture, power, and social change in the internet era

According to Reed, “The political impact of new media technologies will depend on how the informational and communicational powers of the technologies are put to use. If information gathering is simply used to further already existing political beliefs, then our political lives will be no richer, and may in fact become more polarized and dangerous. If information gathering leads to expanded knowledge and more substantive exchanges of ideas, then greater political wisdom may emerge. But the technology is only the means; the ends, once again, will be decided by who uses the technology most imaginatively and most effectively” (p. 125).

In a paper of approximately 500 words (two double-spaced pages), apply one or two outside sources and draw on insights from Chapter 6 in Digitized Lives: Culture, Power, and Social Change in the Internet Era and articles from this week’s reading to examine the following:

Identify how the protests examined in the studies by Brym et al. and Vraga et al. made use of new media technologies in their activist efforts.

Synthesize the conclusions of Brym et al. and Vraga et al. with the respect to the authors’ evaluations of the protestors’ uses of social media to advance social change.

How did those who eventually supported the Revolution go from insisting on their rights as English people and as viewing themselves as English, to envisioning and insisting upon breaking away from England?

write about steps you could take to stay clear about your values and to set appropriate boundaries at your internship agency and beyond. Be sure to include at least three approaches you could use to help you stay on track.

Journal Entries: Values and Boundaries

Go to YourMorals.Org (Links to an external site.). Set up an account and then take the Schwartz Values Test and the Big Five Personality Test. Go to the Barrett Values Centre (Links to an external site.) and take the personal values test. After completing the above assessments online, you have a picture of the values that are important to you. As you think about those, choose one that scores as most important. Now, consider an ethical/boundary situation that you might confront in your internship agency related to either the clients or the co-workers.

Use the scenarios on pages 85-98 to consider the dilemma that most goes against the value you chose (ie: the therapist or worker went against that value).

Then write about steps you could take to stay clear about your values and to set appropriate boundaries at your internship agency and beyond. Be sure to include at least three approaches you could use to help you stay on track.

This reflection journal entry must be a minimum of 500 words.

Assignment 1: Experiencing Research Report and Reflection Actions

You have been asked to organize for yourself a practical research experience. There are 3 clear ways you could do this:
Immerse yourself in a research experience by participating in a research project being run at the University of Stirling as a research participant e.g. participation in staff or PhD or MSc student research project.
Engage with a researcher – interview them about one specific research project they are engaged in. Ideally this will be a post-doctoral research fellow, a research assistant or a PhD or MSc student rather than a staff member.
Engage with a stakeholder about research – identify a stakeholder, this may be the coach of a club you are a member of, or your workplace manager (sports/health-related), or employee of a charity (sports/health-related), or member of NHS or social care staff and interview them about what would be an important research question to answer in their workplace (related to Sports Studies/Health) and how this might be conducted as a project – you are looking for their ideas.
Given Covid-19 making it difficult to participate in face to face research, if you have participated in a research project in the past year and can remember enough about it to be able to write in the level of detail in the notes below, then writing about this past experience will also be acceptable.
You will need to take notes after the research participation or during the interview to help with your write up. These should be descriptive and also your own reflections.

Assessment: The report should be no more than 1000 words and include two sections:

Part 1: Descriptive Report describing the research experience. A concise descriptive report of the research undertaken/discussed (about 2/3 of the report).

Part 2: A brief reflective report about your experience/what you have learned about research from this (about 1/3 of your report).

Notes to help you:

Adopt a structure that is logical and uses appropriate headings;

The style of writing and presentation should be clear and logical;

Write a descriptive section that clearly describes the research project engaged in or interviewed about. You should consider these questions:

What is the background research area?
What is the research question?
What is the methodology – quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods?
Who are the participants and why were they chosen?
What exact methods are being used and why?
What is the procedure of the research i.e. what did they do/talk about doing
How would they go about analysing the data?
Write a reflective section on your experience of the process and what you have learned about research through this experience relative to the research process. You should consider these questions:

Did you enjoy the experience?
What specific topic did you learn more about?
What specific research methods did you learn more about?
Which part of the research process do you think you learnt the most about?
How is this experience going to influence your development as a researcher and your future research project?
