Target Corporation’s Delivery Service

Prompt: Building on the discussion in this module, consider the following:

 What tools/techniques were used in your design, such as quality function deployment, value stream mapping, and JIT? What technologies were used to support your design, such as concurrent engineering, computer-aided design, or value analysis?

 Describe how you incorporated the concepts of lean operations and lean services in your design.

 Identify the considerations needed for the sustainability of your production line and what specific efforts can minimize waste; consider end-of-life programs and the three R’s (reduce, reuse, recycle). Consider the phases of product design in your paper.

 As it applies to your business opportunity, consider the legal, cultural, global, and human involvement needed in your design as outlined in Chapter 4.

Note: It is not intended that you include the actual design of the product/service, but this paper needs to describe how you intend to create this design considering the topics in Chapter 4 and incorporate lean operations into your design.

Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed:

 Identify the tools, techniques, and technologies used in the design of your production plan.
 Explain how you will integrate lean operations and lean services in your production plan.
 Discuss your considerations for sustainability to eliminate waste in each phase of your production plan.
 Discuss the legal, cultural, global, and human involvement needed to implement your production plan.

Summary: You should provide a summary of your dissertation consisting of no more than 300 words. This must include the following subheadings reflecting the chapters in your dissertation:

Chapter One – Background and Rationale Section (Word Limit: 1,000):

You will clearly articulate arguments for why your chosen, focused area of practice is important and may need to be transformed.

In this section you need to identify whether there are already existing, literature or systematic reviews in the area and how these have informed the arguments you are making about the importance of your chosen area of clinical practice and why it may need to be transformed. If there are no existing reviews that you can draw upon, then you will not be penalised for this. Instead, you will need to draw upon other evidence to help support your rationale for focusing on this practice area. A strong argument will include, where relevant, the impact on health, well-being, delivery and efficiency of clinical services and costs (formal and informal).

Chapter Two – Literature Review (Word limit: 5,000):

You will complete a comprehensive literature review related to an area of interest within your scope of practice. The literature review should consist of three sections.

1. Briefly set the scene by identifying the area of practice you are exploring. This will flow from the argument you have presented in your background/rationale section above. You will need to articulate a clear research question for your literature review.

2. Explain how you have searched and retrieved published evidence. You will document your search strategy (including search terms, Boolean operators and databases), your inclusion and exclusion criteria, and how you have arrived at the 8-10 studies you have selected to review.

3. Provide a synthesis and critical appraisal of your 8-10 studies that you are including in the literature review. You will use the Moule (2018) tool to critically appraise your studies. Your critical appraisal must include consideration of ethical principles and best practice. It is important that you apply your writing about ethics to the studies you have reviewed. Your synthesis of the literature will identify relevant themes or issues that cut across the studies you have reviewed. This third section should contain up to 3,000 words.

This should be based on a real-world partnership/project from your chosen company. The case study you select can be commercial or non-commercial organisation, but it must include the following features:

How will the various elements of the marketing environment impact on your plans? Where do you see your key markets and who would be your main customers? Who (and what) are your competitors, and which ones will be the most important?

Business management report

Read this part carefully and, if you don’t understand, ask your tutorial tutor to clarify what you need to do

There are two different briefs below.  Each brief has the same task.  You only need to answer one brief, not both.  You can decide which one you would prefer to answer.  Read the context for the case study, then answer the questions in that context.  If you submit answers to both briefs, we will only mark the first one and we will completely ignore the second one.

Brief one: The fountain of Youth (Answer this brief OR brief two, not both)

Note If you are concerned that the product in this assignment is unrealistic, so were the students in a previous version where the product was a device which translates speech between 26 languages in real time.  Such a device is now available on Amazon for around £60 ….

One of the difficulties facing universities is that we are trying to prepare you for jobs that don’t exist selling products that aren’t yet available, so the subject of this assignment fits right in with that requirement.

The context for your assignment (For the purpose of this assignment, assume that what follows is factually real)

For centuries mankind has been trying to find the secret to eternal youth, the elixir of life, the key to turning off the aging process.  Con-merchants have sold all manner of potions claiming to do just this and in the seventeenth century arsenic was used as make-up and led was dropped into the eyes to make them appear brighter!

You are the marketing team for a cosmetics company which, while working on a new face cream formula in 1999, made a very fortunate mistake and achieved what con-men and scientists have been dreaming of: they accidentally developed a substance which will actually stop the aging process in its tracks.

This breakthrough has been kept quiet for the last fifteen years while the Chief Geneticist used herself as a guinea pig.  She has bathed twice daily in a bath into which the substance is added, much as you would with bubble bath.  Not only does she not look a day older, but at a genetic level she is exactly the same age now as she was fifteen years earlier.  Other than this, the cream has had no ill effects.

The Board is ready to go public with the product, subject only to achieving clearance from various health and safety agencies, which they are certain will happen.

Brief two:   (Answer this brief OR brief two, not both)

You are the worldwide marketing director for Apple.

You are launching a new mobile phone.  It isn’t much different from the previous few versions of the iPhone, but you can reasonably expect people to buy it anyway, simply because it’s the newest version.

Your task for whichever brief you decide to follow  (Only answer brief one OR brief two: not both)

These tasks apply to whichever brief you decide to answer.

1. How will the various elements of the marketing environment impact on your plans? About 700 words
2. Where do you see your key markets and who would be your main customers? About 700 words
3. Who (and what) are your competitors, and which ones will be the most important? About 700 words
4. What pricing strategy should be adopted? About 700 words
5. What promotional techniques would you recommend? About 300 words

Programming language, such as JAVA, C, Python, and SQL, are commonly used in electronic health records and databases. Relational databases use structured query language (SQL) programming. SQL statements can be divided into two categories: data manipulation language (DML) and data definition language (DDL). Compare and contrast data manipulation and definition language and provide an example and statement from each category.

Re-evaluate the ‘classic’ bystander studies that are still prevalent in social psychology textbooks. Describe the original studies on bystander behaviour to help generate a critical discussion around the sociocultural context of Kitty Genovese’s murder which led to the research.

Critically evaluate the extent to which bystander behaviour has shaped social psychology theory and research.

For this essay, consider the historical and cultural context of ‘moral panics’ regarding bystander non-intervention. The story of the ‘Good Samaritan’ tells us something about the time it was reconstructed in later years– the Samaritan helped because he was good and out of the ordinary with ‘normal’ people not helping.

For the substantive part of the essay, you are asked to re-evaluate the ‘classic’ bystander studies that are still prevalent in social psychology textbooks. These studies highlight the dangers of the group and how the presence of others can undermine the bonds of neighbourly concern. The theoretical assumptions and findings of these studies have, until relatively recently, remained unchallenged by psychologists.

You should describe the original studies on bystander behaviour to help generate a critical discussion around the sociocultural context of Kitty Genovese’s murder which led to the research. You should consider the extent to which key features of the murder were selected and less relevant details dropped at the time to reflect this. You might evaluate the ecological validity of the original studies.

You can describe contemporary bystander studies, which focus on more recent events, so that you might draw parallels with the original work. You can include research which has examined social and institutional environments to help frame your argument.

You might consider the extent to which methods adopted by social psychologists reinforce the notion that society compromises of individuals, such as the bystander experiments
