You are required to produce an individual report analysing the performance and manner of operations of an organisation / individual in terms their entrepreneurial and / or innovative capability. You will need to choose an entrepreneur / innovator or an organisation that fits those categories. You do not have to choose a famous person or organisation – but you would be wise to choose one where there is a significant quantity of information about their performance and means of operating available to you. This could be someone you know who is willing to help you or it could be that there is a lot of media coverage about that person / organisation available to you – possibly through FAME & FACTIVA. Finding, and justifying, a suitable target will be an important part of the assignment – it carries 20% of the assignment mark – start looking early! If you have any doubts about the suitability of the person you select – check with your Team Coach – you should aim to do this not later than week three.
Decide how you are going to measure performance – it will not ‘just’ be financial ratio analysis. If you only use financial analysis and ratios you will score very badly for his component of the assessment.
How are you going to judge the way the subject operates? What have you learnt about entrepreneurship and innovation from the module and elsewhere that you can use to make the assessment? There are many ways to assess performance read widely and find ones that suit the nature of your chosen individual / organisation.
Are they doing well? Could they do better? How? This is where you make, and justify, recommendations for improvements or changes that the subject could sensibly make.
As you are making recommendations for improvements it is not a good idea to select an historical individual / organisation. So, do not chose Steve Jobs! Bearing in mind that you will make recommendations for their next steps it would be unwise to choose someone who is dead. If you must choose Apple then you need to be considering the performance of the company and the current leadership team.
Remember that this is a report and should be structured as such. The executive summary is part of the word count and the only appendices allowed are the references – no other appendices will be read or considered in marking your work.
In the scenario assignments, you are asked to reflect on responses to the presented scenario.
See attached scenario, rubric and template ( answer to a few questions mentioned on the template and for the last question please write on word document).
Reflection involves critical thinking, which means rethinking your existing knowledge and previously held opinions in light of what we have learned about theories of ethics, logic, and reasoning. You will need to question your current knowledge and beliefs. Discuss the main points of the debate, what stance you take, support that stance, and discuss the opposing argument. Also, discuss an ethical theory that would apply to defend your view.
To complete each scenario assignment:
1. Complete the entire scenario.
2. Fill out the template attached below,
3. Compose the last question on the template reflection in a Word document and be sure to address, at a minimum, the following questions:
Why do you feel the way you do about the issue presented? Of the four responses offered in the scenario, which do you think is the most ethical and why? Which ethical theory would you use to support your stance? Why does this theory work?
4. Support your conclusions with evidence and specific examples from the textbook, including a minimum of one theory of ethics to defend your stance.
5. Your reflection must be 1 pages in length and follow APA formatting and citation guidelines as appropriate, making sure to cite at least two sources.
6. Review the rubric for specific grading criteria
You are to write an essay on the following:
McDonalds has come to epitomise the ‘fast-food’ industry. When the company started in the 1950’s it was the first to establish itself in the market. Now there are hundreds of ‘fast-food’ brands in the market competing in different ways. Examples of fast-food chains are companies such as Burger King, KFC, Dominos, Subway. These companies generally offer a counter service often supplemented by an eat-in area. Examples of other companies in the sector are Nandos, Pizza Express and Starbucks. Expensive restaurants would not be appropriate for analysis as they are not in the same market segment.
Using the Hill methodology for operations strategy formulation conduct the following analysis for a typical McDonald’s restaurant in the UK and one other company in the fast-food sector as defined in the previous paragraph. For each company deduce what you believe to be its competitive factors (order winning and qualifying). Translate these factors into performance objectives for operations. Discuss the strategic fit for each company between its performance objectives and its operations structure and infrastructure. Finally provide a comparison regarding the fit across the 2 companies.
Assessment Criteria
You will need to pick 2 or 3 structural and 2 or 3 infrastructural for each of your companies in your assignment for the analysis. Assignment/Tasks:
Climate change issues are now a global concern, especially for businesses and governments around the world. To address the consequences of climate change, world leaders and businesses made commitments to limit global warming below 2°C with the aim to achieve 1.5°C due to the systemic impacts of climate change. On 13th November 2021, climate change conference (COP26) ended in Glasgow with more ambitious commitments and actions to achieve 1.5°C target. Although the total global emissions should be reduced by 45% by 2030, many of these commitments and statements to reduce the global emissions are merely intentions and non-binding, indicating the dangers of reversing the consequences of human and business activities to the pre-industrial era. In its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), the UK government made several strong commitments and targets to achieve carbon neutrality by the year 2050. These commitments include but are not limited to the following key areas:
1. Decarbonising the power sector fully by 2035. This commitment involves introducing of renewables, including 40GW of offshore wind, and the total spend of £120m on nuclear projects. This commitment also includes the plan to offer £5,000 grants (loans) for householders to replace their old gas boilers with low-carbon heat pumps and by 2035 no new gas boilers will be sold in the UK.
2. Carbon capture and storage and increased production of hydrogen and biofuels. A commitment of £140m from the UK government to accelerate industrial carbon capture and hydrogen.
3. Improved investments for the electrification of vehicles and their supply chains. Funds for railways, buses and cycling and a commitment to produce 10% of aviation fuels from household waste, flue gases from industry, carbon captured from the atmosphere by 2030.
4. Commitment of additional £124m for nature restoration ensuring total spend of more than £750 million by 2025 on peat restoration, woodland creation, and management. The restoration efforts will include approximately 280,000 hectares of peat in England by 2050 and trebling woodland creation rates in England, contributing to the UK’s overall target of increasing planting rates to 30,000 hectares per year.
As a risk management analyst, you are expected to provide a single academic report recommending how the outlined ambitions can be realised through a proactive and effective risk management strategy. You must select only one of the four commitment areas presented above and address the following tasks in your report:
1. A critical appraisal of the UK government’s motivations/drivers for your chosen or selected commitment or plan and their implications for the UK economy and society
2. Critically analyse governance issues in risk management, and using the knowledge gained along with relevant models/frameworks, discuss how the selected commitment can be effectively implemented to achieve its motivations and intended objectives
3. Recommend to the UK government how the selected plan or commitment can sustain the UK economy’s resilience while reducing people’s vulnerabilities.
Guidance and additional information You can find additional information about the government’s plan/commitment on the website below. You can use the information on the website to inform your understanding and analysis/discussion; however, you must not rely on the website. You are expected to read widely and support your discussions with relevant/credible/recent academic (peerreviewed) sources.

The details of the curriculum and content of the programme are as follows:
Around 60 students are expected on the programme (divided into four groups). Students arrive with a range of IELTS scores (6.5 – 8.0) and already have the requirement to begin degree programmes in a number of different departments on completion of the pre-sessional. Despite the range of scores, however, many students will have very similar IELTS profiles, making it difficult to divide them into four groups. The first morning of the course will be given over to testing- which means up to 3 hours may be available for various tests and assessments.
Task detail
Design your test and include any texts, samples of test items [note that we do not need to see a complete test], rubrics, prompts and marking criteria in appendices. In the main assignment, justify your test design based on testing principles (aspects of validity, reliability, practicality etc.) and research studies. Make sure that you define concepts based on the literature and that you apply them to the context above.
