Gupta, A Beginner’s Guide to New Testament Studies
Students will read the entirety of Gupta, A Beginner’s Guide to New Testament Studies, and write a 3-page report on three chapters of the book. Each student will pick three topics (debates) outlined in the book and provide a brief summary of each debate. A clear, concise (1-page) summary of the debate should be discussed and a brief, evaluative report on how beneficial the debate is in the study of the NT. The student should note why the debate is beneficial and provide an example from the NT where the topic could be utilized. For example, a student may choose to discuss the debate on The Synoptic Problem. After clearly outlining the issues of the debate, he/she may discuss how the Synoptic Problem can be viewed through John the Baptist’s ministry in Mark 1; Matthew 3; Luke 3.
